IFS Standards
IFS Standards are uniform food, product and service standards. They ensure that IFS-certified companies produce a product or provide a service that complies with customer specifications, while continually working on process improvements.
Certima B.V. provides certification in the following standards:
IFS Food standard is focused at manufacturers who produce under the so-called “Private” brands (Private labels) and give greater certainty to the retail chains that products produced by their suppliers under their brands will be safe and meet quality and legal requirements.
IFS Cash & Carry / Wholesale standard covers all handling activities of loose and unpacked products in Cash & Carry-markets or wholesale companies.
It includes also the processing of small amounts of product e.g. minced meat.
The aim of the IFS Logistics standard is to ensure food safety throughout the whole international supply chain. This is one of the first international standards that is focused on logistics activities. Certification against IFS Logistics guarantees to purchasers of large retail chains and international companies that the safety of supplied food is ensured.
IFS Broker standard can be applied for companies primarily involved in ‘trading activities’. The Broker is responsible for the purchasing process (selection of suppliers) and delivering the goods to their clients. The broker has no physical storage and no handling or processing facilities.
The IFS Global Markets – Food is a standardized food safety assessment program for retailers as well as industry branded food products. The program is meant to support “small and/or less developed businesses” in the development of their food safety management systems and making the first step towards the implementation of the IFS Food Standard.
