Standards guarantee the standardisation of quality, safety and operational criteria and ensure that manufacturers fulfil their legal obligations and provide protection for the end consumer. Certification to BRC Global Standards is now often a fundamental requirement of leading retailers, manufacturers and food service organisations.
The range of BRC standards are aimed at various sectors within the food and consumer products supply chain and all of the standards incorporate senior management commitment, risk assessment, hazard analysis, quality management and good manufacturing practices.
Certima B.V. provides certification in the following standards:
GLOBAL STANDARD FOR FOOD SAFETY
This standard specifies the food safety, quality and operational criteria required within a food manufacturing organisation. The standard doesn’t apply to food products which do not undergo any process at the site audited or to activities relating to wholesale, importation, distribution or storage outside the direct control of the company. This standard is recognised by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI).
GLOBAL STANDARD FOR STORAGE AND DISTRIBUTION
This standard provides the essential certification link between the range of BRC manufacturing Standards and the end user, the retailer/food service company.
The Standard is designed to ensure best practice in handling storage and distribution of products and promotes continuous improvement in operating practices.
GLOBAL STANDARD FOR PACKAGING AND PACKAGING MATERIALS
The standard BRC for packaging and packaging materials is a leading standard recognized by large retail chains and packing companies worldwide. Certification against this standard indicates that packaging materials comply with quality, legal and additional customer requirements. This standard is applicable for companies involved in production of packaging materials.
BRC GLOBAL STANDARD FOR AGENTS AND BROKERS
This standard provides a framework to manage product safety, quality and legality for businesses in the food, packaging and consumer products industries which buy, sell or facilitate the trade of products, but who do not manufacture, process or store products in their own facilities or on their own site. These companies play an essential role in the movement and trade of products, providing a critical link in their chain of custody.
GLOBAL STANDARD FOR GLUTEN-FREE
Formerly known as the Gluten-Free Certification Program (GFCP), BRCGS Gluten-free certification provides food manufacturers with independent recognition for allergen food safety compliance. Endorsed by various Celiac related organizations, this program aims to meet specific consumer expectations for ‘gluten-free’ product claims that are essential for consumer confidence and trust.
GLOBAL STANDARD START!
The START! programme has been developed to complement the Global Standard for Food Safety. As certification to the Standard continues to develop, it’s important to provide opportunities to recognise and encourage the development of food safety systems in small sites where the full requirements of the Standard may not always be practical or add value, and in sites that are still developing food safety management systems.
